Hermeneutics and Hierarchy

This paper examines the relationship of the hermeneutic tradition the analysis and critique of power relations. In particular, it asks how the specific modalities developed by hermeneutics to think about historical change are, and are not, compatible with similar attempts to develop histories of power and contested knowledge.
